What is ADSS Fiber Optic Cable

2025-04-16

ADSS (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) fiber optic cable is a high-performance cutting-edge communication network product. It is metal-free, tension-resistant, self-supporting, highly insulated, non-inductive, thin, light, easy to construct and economical. It is a composite optical cable made by winding the optical fiber bundle around the central reinforcement and taking protective measures such as insulation, waterproofing, reinforcement and sheathing.

ADSS Main uses:

(1) Use it as the lead-in and lead-out optical cable of the OPGW system relay station. Based on its safety properties, it can solve the power isolation problem well when leading in and out of the relay station.

(2) Use it as the transmission optical cable of the optical fiber communication system in the high-voltage (110kV-220kV) power grid. In particular, many places have conveniently used it when renovating old communication lines.

(3) Use it in the optical fiber communication system in the 6kV~35kV~180kV distribution network.

Advantages of ADSS Fiber Optic Cables

High Reliability: Resistant to electrical interference and harsh environmental conditions.

Cost-Effective: Reduced installation costs due to the self-supporting nature.

Flexibility: Suitable for diverse Applications, including long spans and high-voltage environments.

Durability: Long lifespan with minimal maintenance requirements.

Typical Spans

ADSS cables can support spans ranging from 50 meters to over 1000 meters, depending on the cable specifications and environmental factors. For ultra-long spans, custom-designed ADSS cables are often required.

Applications of ADSS Fiber Optic Cables

ADSS fiber optic cables are widely used in a variety of scenarios, thanks to their versatile and robust design.

Overhead Transmission Lines

ADSS cables are ideal for installation on high-voltage power lines, as their dielectric materials prevent electrical interference.

Rural and Remote Areas

With the ability to span long distances without intermediate supports, ADSS cables are frequently deployed in rural or remote regions where infrastructure is sparse.

Urban Telecommunications

These cables are also used in dense urban environments where existing utility poles or towers can serve as supports, minimizing the need for new infrastructure.

Harsh Environments

ADSS cables are well-suited for regions with extreme weather conditions, including heavy ice and strong winds, ensuring consistent network performance.
